Prerequisites

Round Kick

The Tornado Kick is one of the easiest kicks you can learn, that actually involve jumping. It's a round or outside crescent kick from a cheat setup.

The Cheat setup

The Cheat Setup is basically the same movement as the start of a spinning hook kick but instead of firing the hook kick you swing your leg up to lift yourself off the ground. You can then follow up with an airborne round kick for a Tornado Kick.

This is the starting position for the cheat setup.  It's the same position as for spinning hook kicks.

Start swing your arms wide to the side while you step over with your jumping foot.

As soon as you put the jumping foot onto the ground, lift off with your other leg - ready to swing it up.

Swing your arms and your leg up!  Airtime.

Spot your target and chamber your kick.

Kick through your target and point your toes! ...unlike me

Land on your non kicking leg.

Done!

Tips

Always turn your hip with the kick so your own hip doesn't block the path of the kick.

Kick through your target. That means you should keep spinning after you fire the kick. This will help you to progress this trick into a 540.

Swing your arms wide and strong to achieve more momentum and height.

Spot your target and not the ground! Many beginners will look for the ground as soon as they lift off.
